Alice's Mad Tea Party

The garden of Honeywood Museum in Carshalton was the setting for SAVVY Theatre's 4-night sell-out production of Alice's Mad Tea Party. I ran public arts & crafts workshops to create pieces needed for the Sensory Tunnel and garden decor and also designed (by accident while coming up with clock templates) the branding for the show with the 'So much to do, So little time' clock design that spawned the first-ever SamiArt T-shirt.

Acting as SAVVY's project-funded Community Engagement Co-Ordinator, I enabled collaborations with Coulsdon 6th Form College Art students (thanks to Neal Vaughan), Sutton & District Training, and Sutton Inclusion Centre as well as arranging the pre-show publicity stall at The Corner Gallery & Gifts (thanks Jackie Khan). In addition, students from both Coulsdon and Carshalton College came along to assist backstage. Students from Coulsdon College also benefitted by having a week-long exhibition of their Alice themed artwork in the museum's Art Gallery. Huge thanks also to DigiGlobal Productions for volunteering time to film and edit the short film of the show!

Fun fact: I played the March Hare and with my make-up and fake bunny teeth, no-one knew it was me!

Romeo & Juliet

Creating the garden set for SAVVY Theatre Company's site-specific sell out performance of Romeo & Juliet at Honeywood Museum, Carshalton. Freelancing as SAVVY's project-funded community engagement co-ordinator & garden set designer for the project, I enabled diverse groups to get involved and create set pieces for the show - Sutton South Hello, Nickel Support, and Sutton Home Education Forum. Members of the public took part in open workshops that I ran, on-site, supported by a grant from Arts Network Sutton. Artist Hana Horack created a wonderful Capulet's Crest and florist, Sam Gent, created fabulous flower displays. This all blended beautifully with SAVVY's props/costume designs by the fabulous Michelle B - The UrbanFairy!

The music playing in the short clip is the official single for the show. 'Next Chapter'created by SAVVY's project-funded musical director, and my husband, Paolo Tossio, with lyrics and vocals from Lyrical Malcolm, Romeo's Balcony scene read by John McCraw, and Italian vocal from me.

Fun Fact: I played Romeo's puppet handler in the show.
